STORIS Spotlight: Fiona Richardson

Fiona Richardson is a longtime STORIS employee. 

Fiona has been working with the STORIS application since 1989. She took on the role of Quality Assurance Technician in 1996. Fiona worked in our Quality Assurance department for 20 years before transitioning to her current role as Product Management Board Leader in late 2016.

In her personal life, Fiona has been married for 33 years and has 3 children ages 23, 19, and 16.  She is musically inclined and sings in the Holy Family Church Choir as well as a select choir called Voices of Faith that performs 6 concerts a year.  In addition, she also plays the flute in the Jordan-Elbridge Community band.  Fiona loves to volunteer her time with kids’ activities from Marching Band to school musicals.

Fiona is a STORIS goldmine of information and we are so happy to have her with us!

What do you do in your position on a daily basis? :  I work with the clients’ enhancement requests, and coordinate with the analysts to produce solutions for client’s specific needs. This includes keeping track of the various enhancements, and approving scopes and specifications for system enhancements. I also answer a lot of design and functional questions from development and support.

What do you like most about working at STORIS? :  I enjoy what I do and figuring out ways to design new things in STORIS. I also am grateful for the people that I work with. We have a great team here!

If you were not in this field, what would you be? :  An elementary school music teacher. I think it would be so fun!

Do you have any hobbies/hidden talents? : I love to sing and play my flute. I’m not so sure it’s a hidden hobby, ask my family, I drive them crazy with the singing that I do around the house. ?

Favorite movie? : Edward Scissorhands

Favorite holiday? :  Christmas because I love decorating and when family gets together.

Favorite month of the year? :  October. Fall in central New York is beautiful.

Favorite food?:  Barbeque Chicken

What do you usually do when you aren’t working? :  Driving my children to their activities and volunteering for those activities.

Favorite place you’ve traveled to and why? : The Grand Canyon. It was an amazing place to see and so beautiful!

If you could have a superpower, what would it be & why? : My superpower would be to touch the side of my nose, like in the show Bewitched, and have my house be instantly clean. It’s such a waste of time to spend the day cleaning when there are so many other things that we could be doing!

Fun fact that many people may not know about you? :  My dad was the interpreter on the set for Sound of Music while it was being filmed in Austria. My mom went into labor with me and couldn’t get my dad to leave the set to take her to the hospital. Eleanor Parker (the Baroness) was arriving and my dad wanted to meet her!
